HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ — October 14, 2024 — Sensonics International proudly announces that its esteemed founder, Dr. Richard L. Doty, has reached the remarkable milestone of 80 years old. Dr. Doty founded Sensonics International over 40 years ago in 1982 and currently serves as the Director of the company’s new Taste & Smell Evaluation Center, following nearly 45 years as the director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for olfactory research.
With an extensive academic background beginning in 1962, Dr. Doty has authored over 400 publications and received numerous accolades for his pioneering contributions to olfactory science. He continues to perform research at the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University, sharing his expertise when he is not at Sensonics International.
The company celebrated this significant milestone with a surprise party on Friday, October 11th, at Maggiano’s in Cherry Hill, NJ. “I thought I was just being asked to go to a formal dinner by Jennifer Williams (Chief Operating Officer of Sensonics International),” recalled Dr. Doty. “But instead, it was a surprise party for my 80th year on this planet!” Upon entering the room, those close to him witnessed his infectious spirit as he immediately began to dance- a true reflection of his joy for celebrating life.
The evening was filled with joy and laughter, reflecting the dedication it takes to lead a company for over 40 years while reaching such a noteworthy age.
